Voiceless

I’ve noticed something recently – almost all of the music I listen to nowadays lacks vocals. I certainly enjoy music with vocals, but there’s just something more appealing to me about orchestral/instrumental/vocal-less music. Even without the use of words, orchestral music is able to communicate a more powerful message than most other vocal songs I have in my iTunes Library. I seem to feel more connected to orchestral music; as the listener, I’m able to give the song my own meaning, whereas vocal songs (in most cases) tell you exactly what the song is about. I love music that is open to my own interpretation. One of my favorite songs at the moment is Everyday (Carly Comando). Take a listen and you’ll see what I mean.

It seems as though most people these days are only interested in rap because of its “amazing lyrics.” Am I the only one that finds rap repulsive anymore? It saddens me that almost everyone I know would turn up their nose to orchestral music.

    ‘Everyday’ isn’t actually a song.. just a piece. /Smartass :P

Albeit, it’s very good. One of Comando’s stand-out symphonies, for sure.

Yeah, I know it’s not a song if it doesn’t have words, but I’m not very good about using the correct terminology.
