About
Toadeh.net is my blog/art showcase. Here you’ll be able to view some of my work as well as read about my life and other random things that catch my interest.
Now you must be wondering, “Who’s the mastermind behind this site?” Allow me to explain.
My name is Jack, but ever since July 2006 my friends online have known me as Toad. This name came to be on July 21, 2006, when I joined a friendly Nintendo DS community called DS-Play at age twelve. As I was completing the registration process, I couldn’t decide upon a name. I looked around the room and saw a book about Amphibians on my desk which happened to have a toad pictured on the front. This was the birth of my online alias, Toad.
DS-Play introduced me to sig-making. I saw a lot of members creating some really cool images. In September 2006, I started learning how to use GIMP, and began making a name for myself on DS-Play.
On March 11, 2007, DS-Play’s successor, Nintendo-Play, opened up to the public. It was never quite as popular as DS-Play, and the community began to separate. During this time, I began to take an interest in web design. After purchasing Jump! Ultimate Stars in the summer of 2007, I decided that I wanted to create a clan (JUMP! Fever) with an official site. I called upon my friend mjanzen128 to aid me in creating the site. This project ended shortly after it began, and JUMP! Fever’s website never saw the light of day.
Jump (pun intended) ahead a few months to February 2008. The Nintendo-Play administrators announced that they were going to be making a bunch of sites as a part of the Gr00pz network. I was not a fan of this idea. After seeing what happened to the DS-Play community when Nintendo-Play was created, I was afraid that the community would split once again. I took it upon myself to start creating a new Nintendo community (which, thinking back on it now, wouldn’t have helped matters at all) with a little bit of coding help from Mikagami. This project was a failure as well, but I picked up some useful HTML and CSS knowledge.
A few months later in May 2008, I realized that I still had my Nintendo site hosted on x10Hosting and decided that I might as well get some use out of it. I decided to install WordPress on the site and turn it into a blog of sorts. I got my good friend Sponty to help me set up the blog. I decided to name it toadeh.net, but lost my motivation to work on it after realizing that I had one (1) viewer.
After about seven months of inactivity, I decided to bring back toadeh.net (February 2009). I built up a WordPress theme from scratch and finally bought the domain name. Ever since then I’ve been trying to keep this place alive, and I think I’ve done a fairly good job.
